THE WEIGHT OF FORM

Commercial streetwear hoodies are built from 280–320 GSM fleece. Within three washes, the fiber relaxes, the hood collapses, and the stance deflates. Here is the physics behind 500 GSM loopback cotton.
THE COLLAPSE THRESHOLD
Most hoodies sold today weigh between 280 and 340 grams per square meter (GSM). While initially soft, this density lacks the structural resistance required to support a 3-dimensional hood or dropped shoulder volume under the pull of gravity.
PORTUGUESE LOOPBACK GEOMETRY
At our partner atelier in Barcelos, Portugal, our custom knit uses high-twist combed organic cotton yarns on circular knitting machines configured for maximum density. The back loops are packed tightly together, creating an internal suspension grid that stays rigid across hundreds of wears.
THE ZERO-COLLAPSE STANDING HOOD
Because our hoods are dual-layered from the exact same 500 GSM shell fabric, the effective hood weight reaches 1,000 GSM. It does not require drawcord tension to stay upright; it rests sculpturally around the neck and jawline like an architectural collar.
